Laser Hair Removal

Is hair laser removal for me?
If you are concerned about unwanted hair, you are probably a good candidate for laser hair removal. Nearly everyone is a candidate for hair removal with the Cynosure laser. The most dramatic results occur for patients with light skin and dark hair, but TKS makes it possible for patients with darker skin to receive greater benefit from the procedure. Other factors can influence the treatment process, and are evaluated during you initial consultation.

Is the procedure painful?
Most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others, and sometimes redness or swelling will occur for a few hours afterwards.

How many treatments do I need?
Hair grows in cycles. The laser only affects hair when it is in it's early-growth phase. The laser will disable follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment. At any time, some hair follicles are dormant. Repeat sessions will treat these follicles when they re-enter the growth phase.

What type of laser removal machines do we use?
We are using the Apogee Elite™ laser from Cynosure®, which uses the advanced TKS™ laser process.

TKS™ stands for Thermokinetic Selectivity. The TKS™ laser process makes it possible to heat just the hair follicle, not the surrounding skin. This is important because this protects the surrounding skin while effectively treating the surrounding hair. This offers the patient a treatment for unwanted hair that is safer as well as more effective than other lasers.
The Apogee Elite™ combines, in fact, two laser systems: a 755 nm Alexandrite laser (for skin types I-IV) and a high powered 1064 Nd:YAG laser (for skin types V-VI and tanned skin).

For an efficient cooling of the skin, we are using the SmartCool™ cooling system from Cynosure®, which is designed to provide a continuous flow of chilled air before, during, and after treatment.
